We introduced effect switching systems last time, and noted how you can connect a large number of pedals with little signal loss. This is because when a pedal is engaged, all of the others are taken out of the chain, because each is in its own isolated loop.
The other asset these systems bring to the table is the ability to engage these effects in any order, and change multiple units at once. A user can, in practice, reorder their pedalboard with the click of a switch.
The problem with larger pedalboards is that a player can’t hit 6 switches at once in time. Now they can. A user can go from pedals 1 through 6 to pedals 7 through 12, with these units arranged in any order.
This lets a player do complex effect patches and switching that was only formerly available in larger rack mount units!
